Publiaction of the Podcast «Spark - Stories from Advocates for Global Change»
The Swiss Young Academy is excited to announce the launch of a new podcast series - "Spark: stories from advocates for global change" - debuting on March 28, 2025. The series features thought-provoking, student-led interviews with a wide array of academic and non-academic experts from Switzerland and beyond. Together, they explore urgent global issues such as artificial intelligence, the impact of social media on democracy, human rights, and climate change - critical topics that shape our present and future.

Spark offers young listeners (ages 16–23) an accessible entry point into the world of transdisciplinary research, showcasing how collaboration across different fields of study is essential to solving complex real-world problems. Through engaging storytelling, the podcast highlights how careers in science can take many shapes, offering insights into the diverse paths within this field. By connecting young listeners with the stories behind the research, Spark aims to foster public engagement with science, encourage deeper connections between established experts and young audiences, and inspire greater involvement in global issues.
“We are committed to empowering young people with the knowledge and inspiration they need to engage with critical global challenges and pursue careers in science that address societal needs from different perspectives,” Pamela Delgado and Alexandre Bovet, speakers of this Swiss Young Academy project, are stating. “Our goal is to actively involve the younger generation in shaping the future of responsible science in Switzerland and beyond.”
In the first episode, hosts Julia and Tanish dive into the intersection of art, science, and climate action with Mirko Winkel, an artist and researcher at the University of Bern. Mirko Winkel leads the mLAB, an experimental space exploring how creative collaboration can help tackle climate change among other ongoing projects.
The podcast launches on Friday, March 28th, 2025, and will be available on all major podcast platforms. A new episode is released every two weeks.
